I’m Not Just Spring Cleaning My Home This Year...

Usually, March is the time for deep cleaning and finally tackling that "everything drawer" we’ve been avoiding. But this year, as the light starts to shift and the first signs of Spring appear here in Eastbourne, I’m looking at a different kind of mess.

I’m looking at the "mental tabs" I’ve left open. The digital noise, the lingering February stress, and that internal pressure to keep "doing" when I should be "being."

With my husband’s birthday just around the corner, I’ve realised something: I don’t want to be celebrating him while my brain is still at my desk. Presence is a practice, not a given. So, I’m doing what I do best: practicing the tools that help me shut out the noise. This month, I’ve decided to spring clean my mind as well as my home. Because when we clear the clutter, we can finally show up for the people who matter most.

So, how am I clearing the mental overflow?

It will be no surprise to those of you who have been in the Roamblogger space for a while that Yoga is at the top of my list. Beyond the physical benefits (and let’s be honest, it definitely helps shake off that winter sluggishness!), it’s a mental reset. A simple vinyasa flow helps move that stagnant energy out of the body and forces you into the here and now. It’s remarkably hard to worry about your inbox when your arms are shaking in a long Warrior II!

If you’re feeling that same need for a reset, come join me in the heat. I’ve got a code for a Free Taster Class at Hotpod Yoga Eastbourne, just use ZPUZ8L when you book. It’s the best way I know to get out of your head and back into your body.

But beyond the mat, I’m taking a practical "Unsubscribe" approach to the rest of my life:

*The Procrastination Pile: I'm clearing the "mental weight" of life admin, booking the car service and the health checkups I've been putting off.

*The Digital Drain: I’m ruthlessly unsubscribing from the junk mail that no longer serves me (like those Christmas lists I joined for a 10% discount!). Side note: Please don’t unsubscribe from The Roamblogger, we’re the "good" kind of mail!

*The Social Feed: I’m unfollowing accounts that feel like a "ping" of harassment every time I check my phone. If it makes me feel "less than" or overwhelmed, it’s gone.

I know that my full presence is the best gift I can give my husband for his birthday (Darren, if you’re reading this, don’t panic, you are getting actual presents, too!).

Choosing to be "here" is the best course of action I can take for my 2026. It allows me to give my best to my husband, my work, and most importantly, to myself.

So, my question to you, dear reader: What is one thing you can "unsubscribe" from this week to be more present for the people you love?
