I recently jumped on a call about business development which was full of directors who were keen to get 2023 started in the best way possible. It was motivational and inspiring, which if you've read my blog posts before, is, hopefully, the key takeaway. It was fantastic to listen to the story of others and the different approaches to businesses they took in order to achieve what they determined as success.
The key takeaway and project that anyone in business should put first and foremost is ourselves.
In the words of Ru Paul, how in the hell are we going to love somebody else if we can't love ourselves first?
If we can't look after ourselves physically, mentally, and spiritually, how are we going to run and maintain businesses far into the future?
So here's a little activity for you.
I want you to write down at least one thing you are doing to maintain your health and physical wellbeing, one thing you are doing for your mental wellbeing, and one thing you are doing to boost your spiritual wellbeing.
For me, I go to the gym once a week and try to eat healthy. I write, which helps me to maintain a better mental wellbeing, and I listen to affirmation podcasts to help with my spirituality.
Once you have one for each I want you to look ahead for the new year. I'd like you to do the same exercise but with things which you don't currently do which you would like to do in the future. This could be expanding on your current activities or could be something new. The trick is to pick things which are realistic and achievable.
For me, I want to go to the gym an additional day in the week, to really boost that physical health. For an additional mental activity, I would like to read more books, and expand my horizons. For me, spirituality is expanding the most in 2023. I've always been someone who meditates or spends time practicing yoga, but I'd like to dedicate more time to affirmations and considering my actionable goals by what makes my soul happy.
So now, without intending to, you have a list of your new years resolutions which will help you increase productivity and provide endless amounts of motivation which in turn will help to grow your business because you have the capacity to do so.
2023 will hopefully be the start of new and exciting projects for all of us, but first and foremost we need to make sure we are in the right physical, mental, and spiritual headspace in order to meet our goals without suffering burnout.
As usual, I'd love to hear what you're currently doing and what your goals are for 2023. Drop me a WhatsApp message on 07857358767 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Until next time.
